Access to Justice
Equitable access to justice is central to the effective protection and promotion of human rights in Australia. PILCH aims to facilitate and improve access to justice in Australia through advocacy, policy and law reform work (as well as its casework). PILCH’s work on access to justice has focused recently on public interest litigation, protective cost orders, Strategic litigation against public participation (SLAPP) writs and pro bono legal services. Other areas of focus include self-represented litigations, disproportionate costs, alternative dispute resolution and legal assistance in regional, rural and remote areas.
