HPLC Events and Training

2007 PILCH Homeless Persons' Legal Clinic Induction Training.

 

The program will be delivered from 8.45am - 1.00pm on 1, 8, 15 and 22 May 2024.

 

The program will cover:

 

  • Intro to Homelessness and the Clinic
  • Presentation by the Clinic's Consumer Advisory Group
  • Credit, Debt and Bankruptcy
  • Victims of Crime
  • Infringements
  • Housing and Tenancy Law
  • Equal Opportunity and Anti-Discrimination Law
  • Social Security
  • The Victorian Charter of Human Rights & Responsibilities
  • Overview of the Housing Support System
  • Critical Incident Management
  • Mental Health Law
  • Effective Referrals
  • Making Complaints
  • Guardianship and Administration
  • Community Sector Lawyering (empathetic lawyering and client engagement)

The program is highly recommended and free to all Clinic lawyers. You are welcome to come to any or all of the sessions.

 

The program is also open to community lawyers and volunteers, pro bono practitioners and workers in homelessness and other community organisations.  A gold coin donation would be appreciated. 

 

For catering purposes, registration is required at least one week in advance of each of the sessions.

Note for lawyers: If this training is relevant to your immediate or long term needs in relation to your professional development and practice of law, then you should claim one CPD unit for each hour of attendance, refreshment breaks not included.
