If you are homeless or at risk of homelessness, the Homeless Persons' Legal Clinic can provide you with free civil and administrative legal assistance, including in relation to:

  • Debt
  • Housing and tenancy
  • Fines and infringement notices
  • Social security and problems with Centrelink
  • Guardianship, administration and problems with State Trustees
  • Victims of crime assistance and compensation
  • Personal injury
  • Discrimination
  • Mental health
  • Bankruptcy 

If you require criminal or family law assistance, the Clinic will do its best to refer you to another legal service provider.

To obtain services from the Clinic, you need to visit one of the following outreach locations:

  • The Big Issue (148 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne) - The Clinic operates at the offices of The Big Issue on Monday from 10.00am - 11.00am and is staffed by lawyers from Clayton Utz.
  • Melbourne Citymission Western (214-216 Nicholson Street, Footscray) - The Clinic operates at Melbourne Citymission Western on Monday from 10.30am - 1.00pm and is staffed by lawyers from Mallesons Stephen Jaques.
  • Ozanam House (179 Flemington Road, North Melbourne) - The Clinic operates at Ozanam House on Tuesday from 10.00am - 12.00pm and is staffed by lawyers from Minter Ellison.
  • Flagstaff Crisis Accommodation (9 Roden Street, West Melbourne) - The Clinic operates at Flagstaff on Tuesday from 1.00pm - 2.30pm and is staffed by lawyers from Minter Ellison with the assistance of Hunt & Hunt.
  • Urban Seed (174 Collins Street, Melbourne) - The Clinic operates at Urban Seed on Tuesday from 12.00pm - 1.00pm and is staffed by lawyers from Clayton Utz.
  •  St Peter's Eastern Hill (15 Gisborne Street, Melbourne) - The Clinic operates at St Peter's Eastern Hill on Wednesday from 7.30am - 9.00am and is staffed by lawyers from Blake Dawson Waldron and the National Australia Bank Legal Department.
  • Hanover Southbank (52 Haig Street, South Melbourne) - The Clinic operates at Hanover Southbank on Wednesday from 5.30pm - 7.30pm and is staffed by lawyers from Phillips Fox.
  • HomeGround Argyle Housing Service (2/107 Cambridge Street, Collingwood) - The Clinic operates at Argyle Housing Service on Thursday from 12.00pm - 2.00pm and is staffed by lawyers from Allens Arthur Robinson. 
  • The Salvation Army Life Centre (69 Bourke Street, Melbourne) - The Clinic operates at the Life Centre on Thursday from 1.00pm - 2.00pm and is staffed by lawyers from Baker & McKenzie.
